We have been in the marine diesel engineering trade since September 1972. Danny Shepcar, the founder of D.R. Diesel, has been a part of the industry maintaining the Scottish fishing fleet in Fraserburgh and Peterhead since March 1994. This work has included the fitting of new and reconditioned engines, overhaul of engines, gearboxes and turbo-chargers, breakdowns and routine servicing. Danny also designed a new type of air filter mesh system which provides optimum performance. This design is now used by a large portion of the local fleet. Danny used the knowledge he had gained over these years to establish his own company, D.R. Diesel, in January 1997.

 Fraserburgh and Peterhead are two of the busiest fishing ports in Scotland and as the business expanded it became apparent that another manager was required to help cover the workload. Danny's brother Russell Shepcar joined the company to provide better coverage of the two ports. Keeping the company as a family owned and run business has allowed us to keep our overheads to a minimum. Job costs can be kept low whilst maintaining the highest quality (all our work is insured and guaranteed), giving you reliability and peace of mind at a price to match.

Our work continues to be centered in Scotland But now in 2003 we are working on much larger vessels in shipyards all over the U.K. and abroard. We are maintaining the main engines on some large passenger ferries as well as offshore marine supply vessels right down to pilot boats. While most of our work is done in the marine industry we are in no way limited to ships' engines. Since the company began we have gained other major contracts, including engine maintenance and overhauls at a variety of Ministry of Defence sites throughout the area and abroard. We have also been working at major overhauls at hospitals and we will be maintaining these on a regular basis.

Back in January 2002 We opened our new workshops in Kilkeel, Co. Down. Based on the border between Northern and Southern Ireland and being just over an hours drive to either Dublin or Belfast Russell has taken up the challenge to run the company and has a growing workforce to keep up with demand. We are agents for Grenaa Diesel and Johnson Pumps. We're still a family business, and we still pride ourselves on the quality of our work and our very reasonable pricing.
